Showtime Theatre Company, a 501C3 non-profit, currently produces 3 mainstage, full scale musical per year. Typically these productions are geared towards elementary kids, teens and tweens and adults and teens, with variations on the age ranges as needed per casting.
K-12 Students enrolled in Showtime Academy Rock Hill's year round training program can audition for our mainstage productions, as ages allow. K-12 students will simultaneously be rehearing for their productions, while training in acting, singing and dancing. Adult actors can audition as casting allows. Rehearsals for Winter and Spring Productions begin late August.
When a show ends, typically before the end of our training season, which runs August-July, the students will continue training. For example, our Elementary Players will most likely have a performance in the winter, and our Teens/Tweens will have a performance in late Spring, for the 2024 season. They will remain in their rehearsal time for expanded training, leading to the June Showcase performances, and or rolling into rehearsals for our summer production, as casting determines.
Participation for our K-12 students is tied to their Showtime Academy tuition structure, so cost varies based on their program. Adults will have a flat fee donated directly to Showtime Theatre Company. Additional fees to consider are costume use fees of $75 per production, donation of concession items, and parent/family volunteer hours for production load in and load out days and other volunteer positions.
Auditions for our K-12 shows, that perform Winter and Spring 2024, will be in May this year- see details above. A follow-up audition for additional ensemble members new to the Academy in the fall will be held late August. Auditions for our Summer 2024 production will be in December 2023- times TBD.
Students in our productions are commiting to a year of training in acting, singing and dancing, with at least one training class and one rehearsal a week. The 2 weeks leading into the performance weekend(s) will require more rehearsals, typically everyday for about 10 days leading up to the first performance. After the Winter/Spring Shows, Students will transition to rehearsals for the summer show, or additional training preparing them for the June Showcase and then the summer training opportunities.
Winter and Spring productions for our K-12 students do not cut students. Everyone who auditions is cast in either a leading, supporting or ensemble role. Pur Junior Theatre Festival Teams and Our Summer productions are more selective and some who audition will be cut.
We offer private lessons in Voice, Piano, Ukulele, Dance and now Guitar!

Cell phones and tablets can be used during class to record things for practice purposes, but only at the direction of the teacher. At all other times devices should be silenced and put away. Some students (especially our tweens) struggle with this, and teachers will begin confiscating devices until after class as needed. -Thanks!
Yes please! Our upper Elem. kiddos and older are encouraged to wear deodorant to class. Bring extra if taking lots of classes back to back.
Parents with kids enrolled in our basic or immersive programs can take class for free. Wednesday Tap at 12p or Acting/Improv 6:30PM.

Join CDYC! With CDYC, parents and participants over 16 years of age, can work concessions at a few large events in the area and earn tuition credit that is applied directly to their Showtime account. Many of our families who do this cover a large portion of their tuition, if not all of it, this way. There are multiple events available throughout the summer to build up a credit for the fall.
We ask that children do not wait outside of the studio for their parents. So, parents with elementary students especially, please pull up to the door or come inside to pick up your child. We have seen kids running across the parking lots or trying to wait in the street for parents. We want to avoid any dangerous situations. Thank you.
